What are hair extensions exactly? They are any method of applying extra
hair to your own hair semi-permanently for length, colour or volume. They
are not clip in, clip out hairpieces and wefts [lengths of hair] which is
a different option. This means that they are in your hair 24 hours a day
and will look as if it is really all your own hair.
The method of application and the quality of the hair are of vital
importance. Most hair extensions are made from blended fibre hair. In the
Wigwam salons this is applied with a tiny plait and wrap which is then
heat sealed around your own hair, which avoids the use of messy glue. The
special friction loop eliminates any excess tension which could damage the
hair or scalp. We have applied thousands of these extensions with no ill
effect to the client.
The hair itself comes in every imaginable shade, which we blend, to
perfection after your free consultation.
Available in straight, natural and wavy [to be curled] it is brush able
and wash able and needs minimal styling but extra care as all long hair
does. The exception is the curly which must be re-set every two weeks as
monofibre does not have the same 'memory' as human hair. Because of its
colorfastness it will not fade like human hair which has been dyed and
hence is available in vivid party colours which we apply to walk in
customers at both branches of Wigwam for 5 pounds a strand.
Before an application for length, colour or volume you will need to come
in for a free consultation. To avoid disappointment you should contact
Leigh at our Powerscourt branch 01-6705998 or please fill out
our contact us form.
Prices are calculated by the bale of hair and its application. This is 49
pounds for a bale of 30-inch hair and 50 pounds for the labor involved.
Extra lengths are also available. This labor cost goes up to 80 per bale
when applying the hair in braids but cheaper hair may be used.
The average full head will use three bales and can take up to five hours
to finish [including a half hour break]; braids may take up to eight hours
to apply.
Removal on more than single stands will need to take place after three
months due to the natural hairs growth.Single strands cost .50p each to
remove if we are busy but larger amounts of removals are charged at 25
pounds per hour and it normally takes one hour.
